For a client's color: Tint Piatto to BM "Ashwood Gray" 1543 — add to Firmolux reference
When a client hands you a Benjamin Moore or Sherwin-Williams chip and you need to pick a Meoded color (or when you're choosing a coordinating color across brands), the process is the same: read three properties — undertone, chroma, and value — and match on all three.

The three-property method

1Undertone — warm (yellow/red/orange bias), cool (blue/green/violet bias), or neutral. This is the #1 pairing failure. A "grey" with a green undertone next to a "grey" with a violet undertone will fight on the wall.
2Chroma — how saturated vs. muted. Most plaster colors are low-chroma. If the BM chip is vivid, your Meoded match also needs some chroma or it'll look washed-out in context.
3Value (LRV) — lightness. BM/SW publish LRV on every chip. Get your Meoded sample within ±3 LRV points of the target chip to avoid a noticeable step in brightness.

Undertone categories — quick read

Warm

Yellow · orange · red bias. Reads cozy, aged. Pairs with wood, brass, cream.

Cool

Blue · green · violet bias. Reads crisp, quiet. Pairs with chrome, steel, white.

Neutral

Balanced, low-bias. Reads safe, versatile. Pairs with almost everything.

Green-leaning

Mushroomy / mossy · common in warm greys. Watch for clash with pink-warm greys.

Common BM / SW → Meoded starting points

Use these as a first sample, never as a final commitment. Always apply on a site sample board under the actual space's lighting before ordering.

Client's BM / SW colorUndertoneSuggested Meoded starting pointNotes
Alabaster · SW 7008Warm neutralVilla or similar warm off-whiteNearly a universal soft-white match
Swiss Coffee · BM OC-45WarmCreamy Tintoretto, Ren-familyA touch of yellow — avoid cool greys next to it
Accessible Beige · SW 7036Warm greigeMushroom or Sand rangeWatch for over-warm in northern light
Revere Pewter · BM HC-172Warm grey / slight greenMid warm grey (Bark-lighter)The classic greige · hides fingerprints well
Classic Gray · BM OC-23Near-neutral coolSerenity-adjacent or pure neutral mid greyOne of the most requested — reads different under warm vs cool light
Silver Chain · BM 1472Cool blue-greySerenity MC-750Direct analog
Iron Mountain · BM 2134-30Cool / very darkCharcoal / Obsidian rangeReads near-black at a glance · strong drama · matches your brand aesthetic
Tricorn Black · SW 6258Near-neutral blackMeoded deepest charcoal / custom tintFor true-black plaster, confirm pigment saturation on sample

Samples — the only real truth

Plaster color shifts between wet and dry, and between burnish states. Assume a sample panel is mandatory for every non-trivial job. Specifically:

  • Match size: 12×12" minimum, 24×24" if the client is particular or the space is high-end.
  • Apply the full number of coats + any wash or glaze you'll use on the real wall.
  • View at three times of day (morning, mid-day, evening) and under the space's actual artificial lighting.
  • Tape BM/SW chip directly on the sample for side-by-side comparison — don't rely on memory.
  • Photograph the approved sample with the chip in frame; save photo to the project profile (ask Claude).

Cross-brand matching across your four lines

When a scheme uses more than one brand (e.g. Mobley: Acero entry + CimentArt Aqua in wet areas), pick your anchor color first — the one the client is most attached to — and match the others to it by undertone and value. Example:

Anchor
Cement Designs Acero (oxidized steel) · entry
Match target
CimentArt Aqua in bath — pull a steel-leaning neutral (cool mid-grey, low chroma) so it coordinates without competing
Don't
Pair a warm-greige CimentArt color with a cool-steel Acero — the entry and bath will feel disconnected

Ask Claude for a specific match

Best prompts:
Client wants BM Sea Pearl in the bedroom. Pick Meoded, CimentArt, and Concretta coordinating colors
I have a SW Pussywillow chip. What Meoded Marmorino color is the closest match?
For the McConkey fireplace (Piatto), suggest a BM color that coordinates with CimentArt Khaki floors
Substrate prep is where most failures start. This reference consolidates the default prep requirements for each product line — share with GCs up-front so drywallers / carpenters leave you a surface you can actually work on.

By product

Meoded Marmorino Tintoretto · matte VP
Substrate: Level 5 drywall finish, sanded smooth. Primer: Meoded Quartz Primer, tinted toward finish color. Dry time: 4–6 hrs before first plaster coat. Temperature: 50–85°F. Coats: 2 minimum. Gotchas: Any drywall seam telegraphs — demand a true Level 5, not a "good Level 4."
Meoded Stucco Lamundo · high-gloss VP
Substrate: Level 5, perfect smoothness — gloss will mirror every imperfection. Primer: Quartz Primer tinted. Coats: 3–4 for high gloss, burnished. Protection: Plasterguard or Stain Shield for high-touch areas.
Meoded Vega Plaster · stone effect
Substrate: Level 4 is acceptable (texture hides minor flaws). Composite mantels/hearths: scuff + primer. Primer: Quartz Primer. Technique: Variable trowel pressure for pitted / precast texture. Custom washes can age the effect. Used on: Ringwood fireplace.
CimentArt Aqua · waterproof microcement
Substrate: Must be structurally sound, non-flexing. Floors: concrete slab or proper cement board over solid subfloor. Showers: waterproof membrane (Schluter Kerdi or equivalent) behind cement board. Corners: ALL internal corners must be taped + bedded with mesh. Bridge movement = crack. Primer: CimentArt primer system. Coats: typical 2 base + 2 finish coats, waterproof sealer. Temperature: 50–85°F, low humidity preferred. Critical: Never apply over flexing substrates (floating floors, unsupported plywood).
Cement Designs ConcrettaFS · flexible mineral plaster
Substrate: More forgiving than Aqua — works over drywall, cement board, existing paint with proper primer. Thickness: 1–3mm minimum. Primer: Craftex/Cement Designs primer system. Sheen options: matt, satin, shiny — request up front from GC because it affects prep standard.
Cement Designs Metallic · Acero / Cobre / Zinc / Bronce / Latón / Aluminio
Substrate: Level 4–5 drywall or properly primed panel. Oxidation: Acero can be activated to oxidize (Mobley entry) — results are unpredictable by design · sample first, photograph result, confirm with client. Sealing: Critical on metallic finishes to lock oxidation and prevent touch marks.
Firmolux Marmorino Piatto
Substrate: Level 4 drywall acceptable, Level 5 ideal. Primer: Firmolux Anchor Primer (or tinted PVA-based primer). Coverage: 75 sqft/gallon per coat. Coats: 2 minimum. Tinting: At distributor — any BM or SW color. Mix thoroughly after tinting for uniform dispersion. Kit sizes: 1kg / 5kg / 25kg.
Portola Roman Clay
Substrate: Level 4–5 drywall. Primer: Portola primer or tinted PVA. Technique: Trowel-applied, thin layers · used on McConkey powder room walls + ceiling. Sheen: matte, low variation.

GC-facing substrate checklist

Cut-and-paste into your onboarding email to a new contractor:

For Apollyon Wall Design to deliver the finish we bid: 1. All drywall to Level 5 finish unless specifically agreed otherwise 2. All internal corners taped and bedded — no raw edges 3. All fasteners set and filled flush — no proud screws 4. Substrate fully dry, dust-free, and delivered at 50–85°F, below 65% RH 5. Wet-area prep (showers/tubs) must include a waterproof membrane (Schluter or equivalent) already tested 6. No fresh paint within 7 days of our arrival — outgassing affects lime plaster 7. Floor microcement: subfloor must not flex — no floating or span over 16" OC without reinforcement 8. We'll do final walk-through 48 hours before arrival to confirm readiness If you need exceptions, talk to me before we load in — rework after mobilization is billable.
